I would love to properly automate this though so if anyone has a good uninstall solution, I'm listening. I ended up just manually logging into each system and uninstalling the software first. I've tried creating a script to uninstall all the existing versions prior, but it had issues properly grabbing the correct uninstall string from the registry and running the uninstall for the Office version already installed. It's really, really annoying when this happens.

Since the wrong license is being "used" by Office, you can't activate it using your 365 credentials as the version licensed with 365 isn't typically the same version the license Office starts using. If you don't do this, the system will work fine for weeks/months, then one day a change causes it to "forget" the correct version/license it is supposed to be using then switch over to a "Grace" or other unlicensed install then start prompting you to activate it. One of the biggest issues I had myself with deploying office 365 is removing all the trial and other versions and keycodes from the system. NOT Compatible, though some have gotten it to work.Does installing the new version automatically uninstall previous versions? I assume it would get the click-to-run installs, but likely not the MSI installed versions. If your Windows PC is running Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 and youre not upgrading to Windows 10 now, consider getting Office Home & Student 2016 or another edition of Microsoft Office. May be compatible per this Microsoft answer. If your Windows PC is running Windows 10, consider getting Office Home & Student 2019. Other Microsoft webpages indicate that 2010 will work.
